Tafsir of Verse 166, Surah Al-A'raaf

فَلَمَّا عَتَوْا۟ عَن مَّا نُهُوا۟ عَنْهُ قُلْنَا لَهُمْ كُونُوا۟ قِرَدَةً خَٰسِـِٔينَ ﴿166﴾

Display verse 166, Surah Al-A'raaf in the Quran

English Translation

So when they were insolent about that which they had been forbidden, We said to them, "Be apes, despised." (166)

English Transliteration

Falamma AAataw AAan ma nuhoo AAanhu qulna lahum koonoo qiradatan khasieena (166)

Tafsir of Verse 166

And when they turned in disdain from that forbidding We said to them, 'Be you apes, miserably slinking!' (166)

When in their insolence they transgressed (all) prohibitions, We said to them: "Be ye apes, despised and rejected." (166)
