وَٱلتِّينِ وَٱلزَّيْتُونِ ﴿1﴾ وَطُورِ سِينِينَ ﴿2﴾ وَهَٰذَا ٱلْبَلَدِ ٱلْأَمِينِ ﴿3﴾ لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ فِىٓ أَحْسَنِ تَقْوِيمٍ ﴿4﴾ ثُمَّ رَدَدْنَٰهُ أَسْفَلَ سَٰفِلِينَ ﴿5﴾ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ فَلَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍ ﴿6﴾ فَمَا يُكَذِّبُكَ بَعْدُ بِٱلدِّينِ ﴿7﴾ أَلَيْسَ ٱللَّهُ بِأَحْكَمِ ٱلْحَٰكِمِينَ ﴿8﴾

Tafsir of Surah At-Tin (Arberry: A. J. Arberry)

وَٱلتِّينِ وَٱلزَّيْتُونِ ﴿1﴾

English Translation

By the fig and the olive (1)

English Transliteration

Waaltteeni waalzzaytooni (1)

Tafsir of Verse 1

By the fig and the olive (1)

وَطُورِ سِينِينَ ﴿2﴾

English Translation

And [by] Mount Sinai (2)

English Transliteration

Watoori seeneena (2)

Tafsir of Verse 2

and the Mount Sinai (2)

وَهَٰذَا ٱلْبَلَدِ ٱلْأَمِينِ ﴿3﴾

English Translation

And [by] this secure city [Makkah], (3)

English Transliteration

Wahatha albaladi alameeni (3)

Tafsir of Verse 3

and this land secure! (3)

لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ فِىٓ أَحْسَنِ تَقْوِيمٍ ﴿4﴾

English Translation

We have certainly created man in the best of stature; (4)

English Transliteration

Laqad khalaqna alinsana fee ahsani taqweemin (4)

Tafsir of Verse 4

We indeed created Man in the fairest stature (4)

ثُمَّ رَدَدْنَٰهُ أَسْفَلَ سَٰفِلِينَ ﴿5﴾

English Translation

Then We return him to the lowest of the low, (5)

English Transliteration

Thumma radadnahu asfala safileena (5)

Tafsir of Verse 5

then We restored him the lowest of the low -- (5)

إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ فَلَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍ ﴿6﴾

English Translation

Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds, for they will have a reward uninterrupted. (6)

English Transliteration

Illa allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati falahum ajrun ghayru mamnoonin (6)

Tafsir of Verse 6

save those who believe, and do righteous deeds; they shall have a wage unfailing. (6)

فَمَا يُكَذِّبُكَ بَعْدُ بِٱلدِّينِ ﴿7﴾

English Translation

So what yet causes you to deny the Recompense? (7)

English Transliteration

Fama yukaththibuka baAAdu bialddeeni (7)

Tafsir of Verse 7

What then shall cry thee lies as to the Doom? (7)

أَلَيْسَ ٱللَّهُ بِأَحْكَمِ ٱلْحَٰكِمِينَ ﴿8﴾

English Translation

Is not Allah the most just of judges? (8)

English Transliteration

Alaysa Allahu biahkami alhakimeena (8)

Is not God the justest of judges? (8)
