About what are they asking one another?English Transliteration
AAamma yatasaaloona
Concerning what are they disputing?
English Translation
About the great news -English Transliteration
AAani alnnabai alAAatheemi
Concerning the Great News,

That over which they are in disagreement.English Transliteration
Allathee hum feehi mukhtalifoona
About which they cannot agree.
English Translation
No! They are going to know.English Transliteration
Kalla sayaAAlamoona
Verily, they shall soon (come to) know!

Then, no! They are going to know.English Transliteration
Thumma kalla sayaAAlamoona
Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know!

Have We not made the earth a resting place?English Transliteration
Alam najAAali alarda mihadan
Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse,
English Translation
And the mountains as stakes?English Transliteration
Waaljibala awtadan
And the mountains as pegs?
English Translation
And We created you in pairsEnglish Transliteration
Wakhalaqnakum azwajan
And (have We not) created you in pairs,

And made your sleep [a means for] restEnglish Transliteration
WajaAAalna nawmakum subatan
And made your sleep for rest,
English Translation
And made the night as clothingEnglish Transliteration
WajaAAalna allayla libasan
And made the night as a covering,
English Translation
And made the day for livelihoodEnglish Transliteration
WajaAAalna alnnahara maAAashan
And made the day as a means of subsistence?
English Translation
And constructed above you seven strong [heavens]English Transliteration
Wabanayna fawqakum sabAAan shidadan
And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments,
English Translation
And made [therein] a burning lampEnglish Transliteration
WajaAAalna sirajan wahhajan
And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour?
English Translation
And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring waterEnglish Transliteration
Waanzalna mina almuAAsirati maan thajjajan
And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance,
English Translation
That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetationEnglish Transliteration
Linukhrija bihi habban wanabatan
That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables,
English Translation
And gardens of entwined growth.English Transliteration
Wajannatin alfafan
And gardens of luxurious growth?
English Translation
Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time -English Transliteration
Inna yawma alfasli kana meeqatan
Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed,
English Translation
The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudesEnglish Transliteration
Yawma yunfakhu fee alssoori fatatoona afwajan
The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds;
English Translation
And the heaven is opened and will become gatewaysEnglish Transliteration
Wafutihati alssamao fakanat abwaban
And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors,
English Translation
And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage.English Transliteration
Wasuyyirati aljibalu fakanat saraban
And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage.
English Translation
Indeed, Hell has been lying in waitEnglish Transliteration
Inna jahannama kanat mirsadan
Truly Hell is as a place of ambush,
English Translation
For the transgressors, a place of return,English Transliteration
Lilttagheena maaban
For the transgressors a place of destination:
English Translation
In which they will remain for ages [unending].English Transliteration
Labitheena feeha ahqaban
They will dwell therein for ages.
English Translation
They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drinkEnglish Transliteration
La yathooqoona feeha bardan wala sharaban
Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink,

Except scalding water and [foul] purulence -English Transliteration
Illa hameeman waghassaqan
Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold,

An appropriate recompense.English Transliteration
Jazaan wifaqan
A fitting recompense (for them).
English Translation
Indeed, they were not expecting an accountEnglish Transliteration
Innahum kanoo la yarjoona hisaban
For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds),
English Translation
And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial.English Transliteration
Wakaththaboo biayatina kiththaban
But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false.
English Translation
But all things We have enumerated in writing.English Transliteration
Wakulla shayin ahsaynahu kitaban
And all things have We preserved on record.
English Translation
"So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment."English Transliteration
Fathooqoo falan nazeedakum illa AAathaban
"So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment."
