Woe to every (kind of) scandal-monger and-backbiter, (1)

Who collects wealth and [continuously] counts it. (2)

Allath ee jamaAAa ma lan waAAaddadahu (2)

Who pileth up wealth and layeth it by, (2)
English Translation
He thinks that his wealth will make him immortal. (3)
English Transliteration
Yah sabu anna ma lahu akhladahu (3)

Thinking that his wealth would make him last for ever! (3)

No! He will surely be thrown into the Crusher. (4)
English Transliteration
Kalla layunbath anna fee alh ut amati (4)

By no means! He will be sure to be thrown into That which Breaks to Pieces, (4)

And what can make you know what is the Crusher? (5)

Wama adra ka ma alh ut amatu (5)

It is the fire of Allah, [eternally] fueled, (6)

Na ru Alla hi almooqadatu (6)

(It is) the Fire of (the Wrath of) Allah kindled (to a blaze), (6)

Which mounts directed at the hearts. (7)
English Transliteration
Allatee tatt aliAAu AAala alafidati (7)

Indeed, Hellfire will be closed down upon them (8)
