Surah Az-Zalzala
سُورَةُ الزَّلۡزَلَةِ
Page 599 (Verses from 1 to 8)

إِذَا زُلْزِلَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ زِلْزَالَهَا ﴿1﴾ وَأَخْرَجَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ أَثْقَالَهَا ﴿2﴾ وَقَالَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ مَا لَهَا ﴿3﴾ يَوْمَئِذٍ تُحَدِّثُ أَخْبَارَهَا ﴿4﴾ بِأَنَّ رَبَّكَ أَوْحَىٰ لَهَا ﴿5﴾ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَصْدُرُ ٱلنَّاسُ أَشْتَاتًا لِّيُرَوْا۟ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ ﴿6﴾ فَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ خَيْرًا يَرَهُۥ ﴿7﴾ وَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ شَرًّا يَرَهُۥ ﴿8﴾

Tafsir of Surah Az-Zalzala (Yusuf Ali: Abdullah Yusuf Ali)

إِذَا زُلْزِلَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ زِلْزَالَهَا ﴿1﴾

English Translation

When the earth is shaken with its [final] earthquake (1)

English Transliteration

Itha zulzilati alardu zilzalaha (1)

When the earth is shaken to her (utmost) convulsion, (1)

وَأَخْرَجَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ أَثْقَالَهَا ﴿2﴾

English Translation

And the earth discharges its burdens (2)

English Transliteration

Waakhrajati alardu athqalaha (2)

And the earth throws up her burdens (from within), (2)

وَقَالَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ مَا لَهَا ﴿3﴾

English Translation

And man says, "What is [wrong] with it?" - (3)

English Transliteration

Waqala alinsanu ma laha (3)

And man cries (distressed): 'What is the matter with her?'- (3)

يَوْمَئِذٍ تُحَدِّثُ أَخْبَارَهَا ﴿4﴾

English Translation

That Day, it will report its news (4)

English Transliteration

Yawmaithin tuhaddithu akhbaraha (4)

On that Day will she declare her tidings: (4)

بِأَنَّ رَبَّكَ أَوْحَىٰ لَهَا ﴿5﴾

English Translation

Because your Lord has commanded it. (5)

English Transliteration

Bianna rabbaka awha laha (5)

For that thy Lord will have given her inspiration. (5)

يَوْمَئِذٍ يَصْدُرُ ٱلنَّاسُ أَشْتَاتًا لِّيُرَوْا۟ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ ﴿6﴾

English Translation

That Day, the people will depart separated [into categories] to be shown [the result of] their deeds. (6)

English Transliteration

Yawmaithin yasduru alnnasu ashtatan liyuraw aAAmalahum (6)

On that Day will men proceed in companies sorted out, to be shown the deeds that they (had done). (6)

فَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ خَيْرًا يَرَهُۥ ﴿7﴾

English Translation

So whoever does an atom\'s weight of good will see it, (7)

English Transliteration

Faman yaAAmal mithqala tharratin khayran yarahu (7)

Then shall anyone who has done an atom's weight of good, see it! (7)

وَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ شَرًّا يَرَهُۥ ﴿8﴾

English Translation

And whoever does an atom\'s weight of evil will see it. (8)

English Transliteration

Waman yaAAmal mithqala tharratin sharran yarahu (8)

And anyone who has done an atom's weight of evil, shall see it. (8)
