Surah Al-Furqaan: Verse 54 - وهو الذي خلق من الماء... - English
Tafsir of Verse 54, Surah Al-Furqaan
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ مِنَ ٱلْمَآءِ بَشَرًا فَجَعَلَهُۥ نَسَبًا وَصِهْرًا ۗ وَكَانَ رَبُّكَ قَدِيرًا
English Translation
And it is He who has created from water a human being and made him [a relative by] lineage and marriage. And ever is your Lord competent [concerning creation].English Transliteration
Wahuwa allathee khalaqa mina almai basharan fajaAAalahu nasaban wasihran wakana rabbuka qadeeranTafsir of Verse 54
And it is He who created of water a mortal, and made him kindred of blood and marriage; thy Lord is All-powerful.
It is He Who has created man from water: then has He established relationships of lineage and marriage: for thy Lord has power (over all things).
وَهُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ مِنَ الْمَاءِ بَشَرًا فَجَعَلَهُ نَسَبًا وَصِهْرًا (And He is the One who created man from water then made of him kinship of blood and kinship of in-laws. 25:54) نَسَب (nasab, translated above as 'kinship of blood' ) is that relationship which emanates from either parent, and صِهْر (sihr, translated above as 'kinship of in-laws' ) is that kinship which is drawn from the wife's side and is called in - laws. All these relations and bonds are Allah's graces given to mankind for a pleasant and tranquil life. If these relations are taken away from someone's life it will be impossible for him to live by himself.
