English Translation
When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, (16)

Ith na da hu rabbuhu bia lwa di almuqaddasi t uwa n (16)

Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- (16)
English Translation
"Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. (17)
English Transliteration
Ith hab ila firAAawna innahu t agha (17)

"Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: (17)
English Translation
And say to him, \'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself (18)

Faqul hal laka ila an tazakka (18)

"And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- (18)
English Translation
And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?\'" (19)
English Transliteration
Waahdiyaka ila rabbika fatakhsha (19)

"'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" (19)
English Translation
And he showed him the greatest sign, (20)
English Transliteration
Faara hu ala yata alkubra (20)

Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. (20)

But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. (21)
English Transliteration
Fakathth aba waAAasa (21)

But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); (21)

Then he turned his back, striving. (22)
English Transliteration
Thumma adbara yasAAa (22)

Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). (22)

And he gathered [his people] and called out (23)

Fah ashara fana da (23)

Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, (23)
English Translation
And said, "I am your most exalted lord." (24)
English Transliteration
Faqa la ana rabbukumu alaAAla (24)

Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". (24)
English Translation
So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. (25)
English Transliteration
Faakhath ahu Alla hu naka la ala khirati waa loola (25)

But Allah did punish him, (and made an) example of him, - in the Hereafter, as in this life. (25)
English Translation
Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. (26)
English Transliteration
Inna fee tha lika laAAibratan liman yakhsha (26)

Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). (26)
English Translation
Are you a more difficult creation or is the heaven? Allah constructed it. (27)
English Transliteration
Aantum ashaddu khalqan ami al ssama o bana ha (27)

What! Are ye the more difficult to create or the heaven (above)? (Allah) hath constructed it: (27)
English Translation
He raised its ceiling and proportioned it. (28)
English Transliteration
RafaAAa samkaha fasawwa ha (28)

On high hath He raised its canopy, and He hath given it order and perfection. (28)
English Translation
And He darkened its night and extracted its brightness. (29)
English Transliteration
Waaght asha laylaha waakhraja d uha ha (29)

Its night doth He endow with darkness, and its splendour doth He bring out (with light). (29)
English Translation
And after that He spread the earth. (30)
English Transliteration
Waa lard a baAAda tha lika daha ha (30)

And the earth, moreover, hath He extended (to a wide expanse); (30)

He extracted from it its water and its pasture, (31)
English Transliteration
Akhraja minha ma aha wamarAAa ha (31)

He draweth out therefrom its moisture and its pasture; (31)
English Translation
And the mountains He set firmly (32)
English Transliteration
Waa ljiba la arsa ha (32)

And the mountains hath He firmly fixed;- (32)

As provision for you and your grazing livestock. (33)
English Transliteration
Mata AAan lakum walianAAa mikum (33)

For use and convenience to you and your cattle. (33)

But when there comes the greatest Overwhelming Calamity - (34)
English Transliteration
Faitha ja ati al tta mmatu alkubra (34)

Therefore, when there comes the great, overwhelming (Event),- (34)

The Day when man will remember that for which he strove, (35)
English Transliteration
Yawma yatath akkaru alinsa nu ma saAAa (35)

The Day when man shall remember (all) that he strove for, (35)
English Translation
And Hellfire will be exposed for [all] those who see - (36)
English Transliteration
Waburrizati aljah eemu liman yara (36)

And Hell-Fire shall be placed in full view for (all) to see,- (36)
English Translation
So as for he who transgressed (37)
English Transliteration
Faamma man t agha (37)

Then, for such as had transgressed all bounds, (37)

And preferred the life of the world, (38)
English Transliteration
Waa thara alh aya ta al ddunya (38)

And had preferred the life of this world, (38)
English Translation
Then indeed, Hellfire will be [his] refuge. (39)
English Transliteration
Fainna aljah eema hiya almawa (39)

The Abode will be Hell-Fire; (39)

But as for he who feared the position of his Lord and prevented the soul from [unlawful] inclination, (40)
English Transliteration
Waama man kha fa maqa ma rabbihi wanaha al nnafsa AAani alhawa (40)

And for such as had entertained the fear of standing before their Lord's (tribunal) and had restrained (their) soul from lower desires, (40)
English Translation
Then indeed, Paradise will be [his] refuge. (41)
English Transliteration
Fainna aljannata hiya almawa (41)

Their abode will be the Garden. (41)
English Translation
They ask you, [O Muhammad], about the Hour: when is its arrival? (42)

Yasaloonaka AAani al ssa AAati ayya na mursa ha (42)

They ask thee about the Hour,-'When will be its appointed time? (42)
English Translation
In what [position] are you that you should mention it? (43)
English Transliteration
Feema anta min th ikra ha (43)

Wherein art thou (concerned) with the declaration thereof? (43)
English Translation
To your Lord is its finality. (44)
English Transliteration
Ila rabbika muntaha ha (44)

With thy Lord in the Limit fixed therefor. (44)

You are only a warner for those who fear it. (45)
English Transliteration
Innama anta munth iru man yakhsha ha (45)

Thou art but a Warner for such as fear it. (45)
English Translation
It will be, on the Day they see it, as though they had not remained [in the world] except for an afternoon or a morning thereof. (46)
English Transliteration
Kaannahum yawma yarawnaha lam yalbathoo illa AAashiyyatan aw d uha ha (46)

The Day they see it, (It will be) as if they had tarried but a single evening, or (at most till) the following morn! (46)
