Tafsir of Verse 138, Surah An-Nisaa
بَشِّرِ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ بِأَنَّ لَهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا
English Translation
Give tidings to the hypocrites that there is for them a painful punishment -English Transliteration
Bashshiri almunafiqeena bianna lahum AAathaban aleemanTafsir of Verse 138
Give thou good tidings to the hypocrites that for them awaits a painful chastisement.
To the Hypocrites give the glad tidings that there is for them (but) a grievous penalty;-
Commentary
In the first verse (138), the hypocrites have been given the news of a painful punishment. By articulating a distressing news with the word, 'basharah' (good news), the hint given is that everyone looks forward to some good news to brighten his or her future but, for the hypocrites, there is just no other news except this.
