Surah An-Noor: Verse 8 - ويدرأ عنها العذاب أن تشهد... - English

Tafsir of Verse 8, Surah An-Noor

وَيَدْرَؤُا۟ عَنْهَا ٱلْعَذَابَ أَن تَشْهَدَ أَرْبَعَ شَهَٰدَٰتٍۭ بِٱللَّهِ ۙ إِنَّهُۥ لَمِنَ ٱلْكَٰذِبِينَ ﴿8﴾

Display verse 8, Surah An-Noor in the Quran

English Translation

But it will prevent punishment from her if she gives four testimonies [swearing] by Allah that indeed, he is of the liars. (8)

English Transliteration

Wayadrao AAanha alAAathaba an tashhada arbaAAa shahadatin biAllahi innahu lamina alkathibeena (8)

Tafsir of Verse 8

It shall avert from her the chastisement if she testify by God four times that he is of the liars, (8)

But it would avert the punishment from the wife, if she bears witness four times (with an oath) By Allah, that (her husband) is telling a lie; (8)
