English Translation
Indeed, those who disbelieve - it is all the same for them whether you warn them or do not warn them - they will not believe. (6)
English Transliteration
Inna allath eena kafaroo sawa on AAalayhim aanth artahum am lam tunth irhum la yuminoona (6)

As for the unbelievers, alike it is to them whether thou hast warned them or hast not warned them, they do not believe. (6)
English Translation
Allah has set a seal upon their hearts and upon their hearing, and over their vision is a veil. And for them is a great punishment. (7)
English Transliteration
Khatama Alla hu AAala quloobihim waAAala samAAihim waAAala absa rihim ghisha watun walahum AAatha bun AAath eemun (7)

God has set a seal on their hearts and on their hearing, and on their eyes is a covering, and there awaits them a mighty chastisement. (7)
English Translation
And of the people are some who say, "We believe in Allah and the Last Day," but they are not believers. (8)
English Transliteration
Wamina al nna si man yaqoolu a manna biAlla hi wabia lyawmi ala khiri wama hum bimumineena (8)

And some men there are who say, 'We believe in God and the Last Day'; but they are not believers. (8)
English Translation
They [think to] deceive Allah and those who believe, but they deceive not except themselves and perceive [it] not. (9)
English Transliteration
Yukha diAAoona Alla ha waa llath eena a manoo wama yakhdaAAoona illa anfusahum wama yashAAuroona (9)

They would trick God and the believers, and only themselves they deceive, and they are not aware. (9)
English Translation
In their hearts is disease, so Allah has increased their disease; and for them is a painful punishment because they [habitually] used to lie. (10)
English Transliteration
Fee quloobihim marad un faza dahumu Alla hu marad an walahum AAatha bun aleemun bima ka noo yakth iboona (10)

In their hearts is a sickness, and God has increased their sickness, and there awaits them a painful chastisement for that they have cried lies. (10)
English Translation
And when it is said to them, "Do not cause corruption on the earth," they say, "We are but reformers." (11)

Waitha qeela lahum la tufsidoo fee alard i qa loo innama nah nu mus lih oona (11)

When it is said to them, 'Do not corruption in the land', they say, 'We are only ones that put things right.' (11)
English Translation
Unquestionably, it is they who are the corrupters, but they perceive [it] not. (12)
English Transliteration
Ala innahum humu almufsidoona wala kin la yashAAuroona (12)

Truly, they are the workers of corruption but they are not aware. (12)
English Translation
And when it is said to them, "Believe as the people have believed," they say, "Should we believe as the foolish have believed?" Unquestionably, it is they who are the foolish, but they know [it] not. (13)
English Transliteration
Waitha qeela lahum a minoo kama a mana al nna su qa loo anuminu kama a mana al ssufaha o ala innahum humu al ssufaha o wala kin la yaAAlamoona (13)

When it is said to them, 'Believe as the people believe', they say, 'Shall we believe, as fools believe?' Truly, they are the foolish ones, but they do not know. (13)
English Translation
And when they meet those who believe, they say, "We believe"; but when they are alone with their evil ones, they say, "Indeed, we are with you; we were only mockers." (14)
English Transliteration
Waitha laqoo allath eena a manoo qa loo a manna waitha khalaw ila shayat eenihim qa loo inna maAAakum innama nah nu mustahzioona (14)

When they meet those who believe, they say, 'We believe'; but when they go privily to their Satans, they say, 'We are with you; we were only mocking.' (14)
English Translation
[But] Allah mocks them and prolongs them in their transgression [while] they wander blindly. (15)
English Transliteration
Alla hu yastahzio bihim wayamudduhum fee t ughya nihim yaAAmahoona (15)

God shall mock them, and shall lead them on blindly wandering in their insolence. (15)
English Translation
Those are the ones who have purchased error [in exchange] for guidance, so their transaction has brought no profit, nor were they guided. (16)
English Transliteration
Ola ika allath eena ishtarawoo al dd ala lata bia lhuda fama rabih at tija ratuhum wama ka noo muhtadeena (16)

Those are they that have bought error at the price of guidance, and their commerce has not profited them, and they are not right-guided. (16)
