Tafsir of Surah Al-Lail (Yusuf Ali: Abdullah Yusuf Ali)
English Translation
None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one.English Transliteration
La yaslaha illa alashqa
None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones
English Translation
Who had denied and turned away.English Transliteration
Allathee kaththaba watawalla
Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs.
English Translation
But the righteous one will avoid it -English Transliteration
Wasayujannabuha alatqa
But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,-
English Translation
[He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himselfEnglish Transliteration
Allathee yutee malahu yatazakka
Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification,
English Translation
And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewardedEnglish Transliteration
Wama liahadin AAindahu min niAAmatin tujza
And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return,
English Translation
But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High.English Transliteration
Illa ibtighaa wajhi rabbihi alaAAla
But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High;
English Translation
And he is going to be satisfied.English Transliteration
Walasawfa yarda
And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction.
