Tafsir of Verse 58, Surah Taa-Haa
فَلَنَأْتِيَنَّكَ بِسِحْرٍ مِّثْلِهِۦ فَٱجْعَلْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكَ مَوْعِدًا لَّا نُخْلِفُهُۥ نَحْنُ وَلَآ أَنتَ مَكَانًا سُوًى
English Translation
Then we will surely bring you magic like it, so make between us and you an appointment, which we will not fail to keep and neither will you, in a place assigned."English Transliteration
Falanatiyannaka bisihrin mithlihi faijAAal baynana wabaynaka mawAAidan la nukhlifuhu nahnu wala anta makanan suwanTafsir of Verse 58
by thy sorcery? We shall assuredly bring thee sorcery the like of it; therefore appoint a tryst between us and thee, a place mutually agreeable, and we shall not fail it, neither thou.'
"But we can surely produce magic to match thine! So make a tryst between us and thee, which we shall not fail to keep - neither we nor thou - in a place where both shall have even chances."
By words مَكَانًا سُوًى(at an even place) in verse 58 the Pharaoh proposed that the contest between Sayyidna Musa (علیہ السلام) and his own magicians should be held at a place which should, as far as possible, be within easy access of the Egyptians, Sayyidna Musa (علیہ السلام) and the Bani Isra'il. The latter readily accepted this proposal and fixed the day and the time for the contest by suggesting۔
