Surah Taa-Haa
سُورَةُ طه
Page 315 (Verses from 52 to 64)
قَالَ عِلْمُهَا عِندَ رَبِّى فِى كِتَٰبٍ ۖ لَّا يَضِلُّ رَبِّى وَلَا يَنسَى
ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ مَهْدًا وَسَلَكَ لَكُمْ فِيهَا سُبُلًا وَأَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءً فَأَخْرَجْنَا بِهِۦٓ أَزْوَٰجًا مِّن نَّبَاتٍ شَتَّىٰ
كُلُوا۟ وَٱرْعَوْا۟ أَنْعَٰمَكُمْ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَٰتٍ لِّأُو۟لِى ٱلنُّهَىٰ
۞ مِنْهَا خَلَقْنَٰكُمْ وَفِيهَا نُعِيدُكُمْ وَمِنْهَا نُخْرِجُكُمْ تَارَةً أُخْرَىٰ
وَلَقَدْ أَرَيْنَٰهُ ءَايَٰتِنَا كُلَّهَا فَكَذَّبَ وَأَبَىٰ
قَالَ أَجِئْتَنَا لِتُخْرِجَنَا مِنْ أَرْضِنَا بِسِحْرِكَ يَٰمُوسَىٰ
فَلَنَأْتِيَنَّكَ بِسِحْرٍ مِّثْلِهِۦ فَٱجْعَلْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكَ مَوْعِدًا لَّا نُخْلِفُهُۥ نَحْنُ وَلَآ أَنتَ مَكَانًا سُوًى
قَالَ مَوْعِدُكُمْ يَوْمُ ٱلزِّينَةِ وَأَن يُحْشَرَ ٱلنَّاسُ ضُحًى
فَتَوَلَّىٰ فِرْعَوْنُ فَجَمَعَ كَيْدَهُۥ ثُمَّ أَتَىٰ
قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰ وَيْلَكُمْ لَا تَفْتَرُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًا فَيُسْحِتَكُم بِعَذَابٍ ۖ وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنِ ٱفْتَرَىٰ
فَتَنَٰزَعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَهُم بَيْنَهُمْ وَأَسَرُّوا۟ ٱلنَّجْوَىٰ
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَٰذَٰنِ لَسَٰحِرَٰنِ يُرِيدَانِ أَن يُخْرِجَاكُم مِّنْ أَرْضِكُم بِسِحْرِهِمَا وَيَذْهَبَا بِطَرِيقَتِكُمُ ٱلْمُثْلَىٰ
فَأَجْمِعُوا۟ كَيْدَكُمْ ثُمَّ ٱئْتُوا۟ صَفًّا ۚ وَقَدْ أَفْلَحَ ٱلْيَوْمَ مَنِ ٱسْتَعْلَىٰ

Tafsir of Surah Taa-Haa (Arberry: A. J. Arberry)
English Translation
[Moses] said, "The knowledge thereof is with my Lord in a record. My Lord neither errs nor forgets."English Transliteration
Qala AAilmuha AAinda rabbee fee kitabin la yadillu rabbee wala yansa
Said Moses, 'The knowledge of them is with my Lord, in a Book; my Lord goes not astray, nor forgets --
English Translation
[It is He] who has made for you the earth as a bed [spread out] and inserted therein for you roadways and sent down from the sky, rain and produced thereby categories of various plants.English Transliteration
Allathee jaAAala lakumu alarda mahdan wasalaka lakum feeha subulan waanzala mina alssamai maan faakhrajna bihi azwajan min nabatin shatta
He who appointed the earth to be a cradle for you, and therein threaded roads for you, and sent down water out of heaven, and therewith We have brought forth divers kinds of plants.
English Translation
Eat [therefrom] and pasture your livestock. Indeed, in that are signs for those of intelligence.English Transliteration
Kuloo wairAAaw anAAamakum inna fee thalika laayatin liolee alnnuha
Do you eat, and pasture your cattle! Surely in that are signs for men possessing reason.
English Translation
From the earth We created you, and into it We will return you, and from it We will extract you another time.English Transliteration
Minha khalaqnakum wafeeha nuAAeedukum waminha nukhrijukum taratan okhra
Out of the earth We created you, and We shall restore you into it, and bring you forth from it a second time.'
English Translation
And We certainly showed Pharaoh Our signs - all of them - but he denied and refused.English Transliteration
Walaqad araynahu ayatina kullaha fakaththaba waaba
So We showed Pharaoh all Our signs, but he cried lies, and refused.
English Translation
He said, "Have you come to us to drive us out of our land with your magic, O Moses?English Transliteration
Qala ajitana litukhrijana min ardina bisihrika ya moosa
'Hast thou come, Moses,' he said, 'to expel us out of our land
English Translation
Then we will surely bring you magic like it, so make between us and you an appointment, which we will not fail to keep and neither will you, in a place assigned."English Transliteration
Falanatiyannaka bisihrin mithlihi faijAAal baynana wabaynaka mawAAidan la nukhlifuhu nahnu wala anta makanan suwan
by thy sorcery? We shall assuredly bring thee sorcery the like of it; therefore appoint a tryst between us and thee, a place mutually agreeable, and we shall not fail it, neither thou.'
English Translation
[Moses] said, "Your appointment is on the day of the festival when the people assemble at mid-morning."English Transliteration
Qala mawAAidukum yawmu alzzeenati waan yuhshara alnnasu duhan
'Your tryst shall be upon the Feast Day.' said Moses. 'Let the people be mustered at the high noon.'
English Translation
So Pharaoh went away, put together his plan, and then came [to Moses].English Transliteration
Fatawalla firAAawnu fajamaAAa kaydahu thumma ata
Pharaoh then withdrew, and gathered his guile. Thereafter he came again,
English Translation
Moses said to the magicians summoned by Pharaoh, "Woe to you! Do not invent a lie against Allah or He will exterminate you with a punishment; and he has failed who invents [such falsehood]."English Transliteration
Qala lahum moosa waylakum la taftaroo AAala Allahi kathiban fayushitakum biAAathabin waqad khaba mani iftara
and Moses said to them, 'O beware! Forge not a lie against God, lest He destroy you with a chastisement. Whoso forges has ever failed.'
English Translation
So they disputed over their affair among themselves and concealed their private conversation.English Transliteration
FatanazaAAoo amrahum baynahum waasarroo alnnajwa
And they disputed upon their plan between them, and communed secretly
English Translation
They said, "Indeed, these are two magicians who want to drive you out of your land with their magic and do away with your most exemplary way.English Transliteration
Qaloo in hathani lasahirani yureedani an yukhrijakum min ardikum bisihrihima wayathhaba bitareeqatikumu almuthla
saying, 'These two men are sorcerers and their purpose is to expel you out of your land by their sorcery, and to extirpate your justest way.
English Translation
So resolve upon your plan and then come [forward] in line. And he has succeeded today who overcomes."English Transliteration
FaajmiAAoo kaydakum thumma itoo saffan waqad aflaha alyawma mani istaAAla
So gather your guile; then come in battle-line. Whoever today gains the upper hand shall surely prosper.
