Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading, (7)

KhushshaAAan absa ruhum yakhrujoona mina alajda thi kaannahum jara dun muntashirun (7)

They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, (7)
English Translation
Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." (8)
English Transliteration
Muht iAAeena ila al dda AAi yaqoolu alka firoona hatha yawmun AAasirun (8)

Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. (8)
English Translation
The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. (9)
English Transliteration
Kathth abat qablahum qawmu nooh in fakathth aboo AAabdana waqa loo majnoonun wai zdujira (9)

Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. (9)
English Translation
So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." (10)

FadaAAa rabbahu annee maghloobun fai ntas ir (10)

Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" (10)
English Translation
Then We opened the gates of the heaven with rain pouring down (11)
English Transliteration
Fafatah na abwa ba al ssama i bima in munhamirin (11)

So We opened the gates of heaven, with water pouring forth. (11)
English Translation
And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. (12)

Wafajjarna alard a AAuyoonan fai ltaqa alma o AAala amrin qad qudira (12)

And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. (12)
English Translation
And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails, (13)
English Transliteration
Wah amalna hu AAala tha ti alwah in wadusurin (13)

But We bore him on an (Ark) made of broad planks and caulked with palm-fibre: (13)
English Translation
Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied. (14)
English Transliteration
Tajree biaAAyunina jaza an liman ka na kufira (14)

She floats under our eyes (and care): a recompense to one who had been rejected (with scorn)! (14)
English Translation
And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember? (15)
English Transliteration
Walaqad tarakna ha a yatan fahal min muddakirin (15)

And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? (15)
English Translation
And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. (16)
English Transliteration
Fakayfa ka na AAatha bee wanuth uri (16)

But how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning? (16)
English Translation
And We have certainly made the Qur\'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? (17)
English Transliteration
Walaqad yassarna alqura na lil thth ikri fahal min muddakirin (17)

And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? (17)
English Translation
\'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. (18)
English Transliteration
Kathth abat AAa dun fakayfa ka na AAatha bee wanuth uri (18)

The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning? (18)
English Translation
Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, (19)
English Transliteration
Inna arsalna AAalayhim reeh an s ars aran fee yawmi nah sin mustamirrin (19)

For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster, (19)
English Translation
Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. (20)
English Transliteration
TanziAAu al nna sa kaannahum aAAja zu nakhlin munqaAAirin (20)

Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground). (20)
English Translation
And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. (21)

Fakayfa ka na AAatha bee wanuth uri (21)

Thamud denied the warning (23)
English Transliteration
Kathth abat thamoodu bial nnuth uri (23)

The Thamud (also) rejected (their) Warners. (23)
English Translation
And said, "Is it one human being among us that we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness. (24)
English Transliteration
Faqa loo abasharan minna wah idan nattabiAAuhu inna ith an lafee d ala lin wasuAAurin (24)

For they said: "What! a man! a Solitary one from among ourselves! shall we follow such a one? Truly should we then be straying in mind, and mad! (24)
English Translation
Has the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar." (25)
English Transliteration
Aolqiya al thth ikru AAalayhi min baynina bal huwa kaththa bun ashirun (25)

"Is it that the Message is sent to him, of all people amongst us? Nay, he is a liar, an insolent one!" (25)
English Translation
They will know tomorrow who is the insolent liar. (26)
English Transliteration
SayaAAlamoona ghadan mani alkaththa bu alashiru (26)

Ah! they will know on the morrow, which is the liar, the insolent one! (26)
English Translation
Indeed, We are sending the she-camel as trial for them, so watch them and be patient. (27)
English Transliteration
Inna mursiloo al nna qati fitnatan lahum fai rtaqibhum wai st abir (27)

For We will send the she-camel by way of trial for them. So watch them, (O Salih), and possess thyself in patience! (27)
