Surah Az-Zumar
سُورَةُ الزُّمَرِ
Page 465 (Verses from 57 to 67)
أَوْ تَقُولَ لَوْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هَدَىٰنِى لَكُنتُ مِنَ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ
أَوْ تَقُولَ حِينَ تَرَى ٱلْعَذَابَ لَوْ أَنَّ لِى كَرَّةً فَأَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
بَلَىٰ قَدْ جَآءَتْكَ ءَايَٰتِى فَكَذَّبْتَ بِهَا وَٱسْتَكْبَرْتَ وَكُنتَ مِنَ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ
وَيَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ تَرَى ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَبُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ وُجُوهُهُم مُّسْوَدَّةٌ ۚ أَلَيْسَ فِى جَهَنَّمَ مَثْوًى لِّلْمُتَكَبِّرِينَ
وَيُنَجِّى ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوْا۟ بِمَفَازَتِهِمْ لَا يَمَسُّهُمُ ٱلسُّوٓءُ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ
ٱللَّهُ خَٰلِقُ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ ۖ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ وَكِيلٌ
لَّهُۥ مَقَالِيدُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۗ وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْخَٰسِرُونَ
قُلْ أَفَغَيْرَ ٱللَّهِ تَأْمُرُوٓنِّىٓ أَعْبُدُ أَيُّهَا ٱلْجَٰهِلُونَ
وَلَقَدْ أُوحِىَ إِلَيْكَ وَإِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكَ لَئِنْ أَشْرَكْتَ لَيَحْبَطَنَّ عَمَلُكَ وَلَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْخَٰسِرِينَ
بَلِ ٱللَّهَ فَٱعْبُدْ وَكُن مِّنَ ٱلشَّٰكِرِينَ
وَمَا قَدَرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِۦ وَٱلْأَرْضُ جَمِيعًا قَبْضَتُهُۥ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ وَٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتُ مَطْوِيَّٰتٌۢ بِيَمِينِهِۦ ۚ سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ

Listen to Surah Az-Zumar (Arabic and English translation)
Tafsir of Surah Az-Zumar (Arberry: A. J. Arberry)
English Translation
Or [lest] it say, "If only Allah had guided me, I would have been among the righteous."English Transliteration
Aw taqoola law anna Allaha hadanee lakuntu mina almuttaqeena
or lest it should say, 'If only God had guided me, I should have been or lest among the godfearing,'
English Translation
Or [lest] it say when it sees the punishment, "If only I had another turn so I could be among the doers of good."English Transliteration
Aw taqoola heena tara alAAathaba law anna lee karratan faakoona mina almuhsineena
it should say, when it sees the chastisement, 'O that I might return again, and be among the good-doers.'
English Translation
But yes, there had come to you My verses, but you denied them and were arrogant, and you were among the disbelievers.English Transliteration
Bala qad jaatka ayatee fakaththabta biha waistakbarta wakunta mina alkafireena
'Yes indeed! My signs did come to thee, but thou hast cried them lies, and thou hast waxed proud, and become one of the unbelievers.'
English Translation
And on the Day of Resurrection you will see those who lied about Allah [with] their faces blackened. Is there not in Hell a residence for the arrogant?English Transliteration
Wayawma alqiyamati tara allatheena kathaboo AAala Allahi wujoohuhum muswaddatun alaysa fee jahannama mathwan lilmutakabbireena
And upon the Day of Resurrection thou shalt see those who lied against God, their faces blackened; is there not in Gehenna a lodging for those that are proud?
English Translation
And Allah will save those who feared Him by their attainment; no evil will touch them, nor will they grieve.English Transliteration
Wayunajjee Allahu allatheena ittaqaw bimafazatihim la yamassuhumu alssooo wala hum yahzanoona
But God shall deliver those that were godfearing in their security; evil shall not visit them, neither shall they sorrow.
English Translation
Allah is the Creator of all things, and He is, over all things, Disposer of affairs.English Transliteration
Allahu khaliqu kulli shayin wahuwa AAala kulli shayin wakeelun
God is the Creator of every thing; He is Guardian over every thing;
English Translation
To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth. And they who disbelieve in the verses of Allah - it is those who are the losers.English Transliteration
Lahu maqaleedu alssamawati waalardi waallatheena kafaroo biayati Allahi olaika humu alkhasiroona
unto Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth. And those who disbelieve in the signs of God, those they are the losers.
English Translation
Say, [O Muhammad], "Is it other than Allah that you order me to worship, O ignorant ones?"English Transliteration
Qul afaghayra Allahi tamuroonnee aAAbudu ayyuha aljahiloona
Say: 'Is it other than God you bid me serve, you ignorant ones?'
English Translation
And it was already revealed to you and to those before you that if you should associate [anything] with Allah, your work would surely become worthless, and you would surely be among the losers."English Transliteration
Walaqad oohiya ilayka waila allatheena min qablika lain ashrakta layahbatanna AAamaluka walatakoonanna mina alkhasireena
It has been revealed to thee, and to those before thee, 'If thou associatest other gods with God, thy work shall surely fail and thou wilt be among the losers.'
English Translation
Rather, worship [only] Allah and be among the grateful.English Transliteration
Bali Allaha faoAAbud wakun mina alshshakireena
Nay, but God do thou serve; and be thou among the thankful.
English Translation
They have not appraised Allah with true appraisal, while the earth entirely will be [within] His grip on the Day of Resurrection, and the heavens will be folded in His right hand. Exalted is He and high above what they associate with Him.English Transliteration
Wama qadaroo Allaha haqqa qadrihi waalardu jameeAAan qabdatuhu yawma alqiyamati waalssamawatu matwiyyatun biyameenihi subhanahu wataAAala AAamma yushrikoona
They measure not God with His true measure. The earth altogether shall be His handful on the Day of Resurrection, and the heavens shall be rolled up in His right hand. Glory be to Him! High be He exalted above that they associate!
