Surah Adh-Dhaariyat
سُورَةُ الذَّارِيَاتِ
Page 522 (Verses from 31 to 51)
۞ قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ أَيُّهَا ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّآ أُرْسِلْنَآ إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍ مُّجْرِمِينَ
لِنُرْسِلَ عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةً مِّن طِينٍ
مُّسَوَّمَةً عِندَ رَبِّكَ لِلْمُسْرِفِينَ
فَأَخْرَجْنَا مَن كَانَ فِيهَا مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
فَمَا وَجَدْنَا فِيهَا غَيْرَ بَيْتٍ مِّنَ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ
وَتَرَكْنَا فِيهَآ ءَايَةً لِّلَّذِينَ يَخَافُونَ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَلِيمَ
وَفِى مُوسَىٰٓ إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَٰهُ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ بِسُلْطَٰنٍ مُّبِينٍ
فَتَوَلَّىٰ بِرُكْنِهِۦ وَقَالَ سَٰحِرٌ أَوْ مَجْنُونٌ
فَأَخَذْنَٰهُ وَجُنُودَهُۥ فَنَبَذْنَٰهُمْ فِى ٱلْيَمِّ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌ
وَفِى عَادٍ إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلرِّيحَ ٱلْعَقِيمَ
مَا تَذَرُ مِن شَىْءٍ أَتَتْ عَلَيْهِ إِلَّا جَعَلَتْهُ كَٱلرَّمِيمِ
وَفِى ثَمُودَ إِذْ قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَمَتَّعُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ
فَعَتَوْا۟ عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ ٱلصَّٰعِقَةُ وَهُمْ يَنظُرُونَ
فَمَا ٱسْتَطَٰعُوا۟ مِن قِيَامٍ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُنتَصِرِينَ
وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍ مِّن قَبْلُ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَوْمًا فَٰسِقِينَ
وَٱلسَّمَآءَ بَنَيْنَٰهَا بِأَيْي۟دٍ وَإِنَّا لَمُوسِعُونَ
وَٱلْأَرْضَ فَرَشْنَٰهَا فَنِعْمَ ٱلْمَٰهِدُونَ
وَمِن كُلِّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقْنَا زَوْجَيْنِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ
فَفِرُّوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّى لَكُم مِّنْهُ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ
وَلَا تَجْعَلُوا۟ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ ۖ إِنِّى لَكُم مِّنْهُ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ

Tafsir of Surah Adh-Dhaariyat (Yusuf Ali: Abdullah Yusuf Ali)
English Translation
[Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?"English Transliteration
Qala fama khatbukum ayyuha almursaloona
(Abraham) said: "And what, O ye Messengers, is your errand (now)?"
English Translation
They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminalsEnglish Transliteration
Qaloo inna orsilna ila qawmin mujrimeena
They said, "We have been sent to a people (deep) in sin;-
English Translation
To send down upon them stones of clay,English Transliteration
Linursila AAalayhim hijaratan min teenin
"To bring on, on them, (a shower of) stones of clay (brimstone),
English Translation
Marked in the presence of your Lord for the transgressors."English Transliteration
Musawwamatan AAinda rabbika lilmusrifeena
"Marked as from thy Lord for those who trespass beyond bounds."
English Translation
So We brought out whoever was in the cities of the believers.English Transliteration
Faakhrajna man kana feeha mina almumineena
Then We evacuated those of the Believers who were there,
English Translation
And We found not within them other than a [single] house of Muslims.English Transliteration
Fama wajadna feeha ghayra baytin mina almuslimeena
But We found not there any just (Muslim) persons except in one house:
English Translation
And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment.English Transliteration
Watarakna feeha ayatan lillatheena yakhafoona alAAathaba alaleema
And We left there a Sign for such as fear the Grievous Penalty.
English Translation
And in Moses [was a sign], when We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority.English Transliteration
Wafee moosa ith arsalnahu ila firAAawna bisultanin mubeenin
And in Moses (was another Sign): Behold, We sent him to Pharaoh, with authority manifest.
English Translation
But he turned away with his supporters and said," A magician or a madman."English Transliteration
Fatawalla biruknihi waqala sahirun aw majnoonun
But (Pharaoh) turned back with his Chiefs, and said, "A sorcerer, or one possessed!"
English Translation
So We took him and his soldiers and cast them into the sea, and he was blameworthy.English Transliteration
Faakhathnahu wajunoodahu fanabathnahum fee alyammi wahuwa muleemun
So We took him and his forces, and threw them into the sea; and his was the blame.
English Translation
And in \'Aad [was a sign], when We sent against them the barren wind.English Transliteration
Wafee AAadin ith arsalna AAalayhimu alrreeha alAAaqeema
And in the 'Ad (people) (was another Sign): Behold, We sent against them the devastating Wind:
English Translation
It left nothing of what it came upon but that it made it like disintegrated ruins.English Transliteration
Ma tatharu min shayin atat AAalayhi illa jaAAalathu kaalrrameemi
It left nothing whatever that it came up against, but reduced it to ruin and rottenness.
English Translation
And in Thamud, when it was said to them, "Enjoy yourselves for a time."English Transliteration
Wafee thamooda ith qeela lahum tamattaAAoo hatta heenin
And in the Thamud (was another Sign): Behold, they were told, "Enjoy (your brief day) for a little while!"
English Translation
But they were insolent toward the command of their Lord, so the thunderbolt seized them while they were looking on.English Transliteration
FaAAataw AAan amri rabbihim faakhathathumu alssaAAiqatu wahum yanthuroona
But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord: So the stunning noise (of an earthquake) seized them, even while they were looking on.
English Translation
And they were unable to arise, nor could they defend themselves.English Transliteration
Fama istataAAoo min qiyamin wama kanoo muntasireena
Then they could not even stand (on their feet), nor could they help themselves.
English Translation
And [We destroyed] the people of Noah before; indeed, they were a people defiantly disobedient.English Transliteration
Waqawma noohin min qablu innahum kanoo qawman fasiqeena
So were the People of Noah before them for they wickedly transgressed.
English Translation
And the heaven We constructed with strength, and indeed, We are [its] expander.English Transliteration
Waalssamaa banaynaha biaydin wainna lamoosiAAoona
With power and skill did We construct the Firmament: for it is We Who create the vastness of pace.
English Translation
And the earth We have spread out, and excellent is the preparer.English Transliteration
Waalarda farashnaha faniAAma almahidoona
And We have spread out the (spacious) earth: How excellently We do spread out!
English Translation
And of all things We created two mates; perhaps you will remember.English Transliteration
Wamin kulli shayin khalaqna zawjayni laAAallakum tathakkaroona
And of every thing We have created pairs: That ye may receive instruction.
English Translation
So flee to Allah. Indeed, I am to you from Him a clear warner.English Transliteration
Fafirroo ila Allahi innee lakum minhu natheerun mubeenun
Hasten ye then (at once) to Allah: I am from Him a Warner to you, clear and open!
English Translation
And do not make [as equal] with Allah another deity. Indeed, I am to you from Him a clear warner.English Transliteration
Wala tajAAaloo maAAa Allahi ilahan akhara innee lakum minhu natheerun mubeenun
And make not another an object of worship with Allah: I am from Him a Warner to you, clear and open!
