Surah As-Saaffaat
سُورَةُ الصَّافَّاتِ
Page 450 (Verses from 103 to 126)
فَلَمَّآ أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهُۥ لِلْجَبِينِ
وَنَٰدَيْنَٰهُ أَن يَٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ
قَدْ صَدَّقْتَ ٱلرُّءْيَآ ۚ إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْبَلَٰٓؤُا۟ ٱلْمُبِينُ
وَفَدَيْنَٰهُ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِيمٍ
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ
سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
وَبَشَّرْنَٰهُ بِإِسْحَٰقَ نَبِيًّا مِّنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ
وَبَٰرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰٓ إِسْحَٰقَ ۚ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحْسِنٌ وَظَالِمٌ لِّنَفْسِهِۦ مُبِينٌ
وَلَقَدْ مَنَنَّا عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ
وَنَجَّيْنَٰهُمَا وَقَوْمَهُمَا مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
وَنَصَرْنَٰهُمْ فَكَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْغَٰلِبِينَ
وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُمَا ٱلْكِتَٰبَ ٱلْمُسْتَبِينَ
وَهَدَيْنَٰهُمَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِمَا فِى ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ
سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
إِنَّهُمَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
وَإِنَّ إِلْيَاسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
أَتَدْعُونَ بَعْلًا وَتَذَرُونَ أَحْسَنَ ٱلْخَٰلِقِينَ
ٱللَّهَ رَبَّكُمْ وَرَبَّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ

Tafsir of Surah As-Saaffaat (Yusuf Ali: Abdullah Yusuf Ali)
English Translation
And when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead,English Transliteration
Falamma aslama watallahu liljabeeni
So when they had both submitted their wills (to Allah), and he had laid him prostrate on his forehead (for sacrifice),
English Translation
We called to him, "O Abraham,English Transliteration
Wanadaynahu an ya ibraheemu
We called out to him "O Abraham!
English Translation
You have fulfilled the vision." Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.English Transliteration
Qad saddaqta alrruya inna kathalika najzee almuhsineena
"Thou hast already fulfilled the vision!" - thus indeed do We reward those who do right.
English Translation
Indeed, this was the clear trial.English Transliteration
Inna hatha lahuwa albalao almubeenu
For this was obviously a trial-
English Translation
And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice,English Transliteration
Wafadaynahu bithibhin AAatheemin
And We ransomed him with a momentous sacrifice:
English Translation
And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:English Transliteration
Watarakna AAalayhi fee alakhireena
And We left (this blessing) for him among generations (to come) in later times:
English Translation
"Peace upon Abraham."English Transliteration
Salamun AAala ibraheema
"Peace and salutation to Abraham!"
English Translation
Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.English Transliteration
Kathalika najzee almuhsineena
Thus indeed do We reward those who do right.
English Translation
Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.English Transliteration
Innahu min AAibadina almumineena
For he was one of our believing Servants.
English Translation
And We gave him good tidings of Isaac, a prophet from among the righteous.English Transliteration
Wabashsharnahu biishaqa nabiyyan mina alssaliheena
And We gave him the good news of Isaac - a prophet,- one of the Righteous.
English Translation
And We blessed him and Isaac. But among their descendants is the doer of good and the clearly unjust to himself.English Transliteration
Wabarakna AAalayhi waAAala ishaqa wamin thurriyyatihima muhsinun wathalimun linafsihi mubeenun
We blessed him and Isaac: but of their progeny are (some) that do right, and (some) that obviously do wrong, to their own souls.
English Translation
And We did certainly confer favor upon Moses and Aaron.English Transliteration
Walaqad mananna AAala moosa waharoona
Again (of old) We bestowed Our favour on Moses and Aaron,
English Translation
And We saved them and their people from the great affliction,English Transliteration
Wanajjaynahuma waqawmahuma mina alkarbi alAAatheemi
And We delivered them and their people from (their) Great Calamity;
English Translation
And We supported them so it was they who overcame.English Transliteration
Wanasarnahum fakanoo humu alghalibeena
And We helped them, so they overcame (their troubles);
English Translation
And We gave them the explicit Scripture,English Transliteration
Waataynahuma alkitaba almustabeena
And We gave them the Book which helps to make things clear;
English Translation
And We guided them on the straight path.English Transliteration
Wahadaynahuma alssirata almustaqeema
And We guided them to the Straight Way.
English Translation
And We left for them [favorable mention] among later generations:English Transliteration
Watarakna AAalayhima fee alakhireena
And We left (this blessing) for them among generations (to come) in later times:
English Translation

Innahuma min AAibadina almumineena
For they were two of our believing Servants.

And indeed, Elias was from among the messengers,English Transliteration
Wainna ilyasa lamina almursaleena
So also was Elias among those sent (by Us).
English Translation
When he said to his people, "Will you not fear Allah?English Transliteration
Ith qala liqawmihi ala tattaqoona
Behold, he said to his people, "Will ye not fear (Allah)?
English Translation
Do you call upon Ba\'l and leave the best of creators -English Transliteration
AtadAAoona baAAlan watatharoona ahsana alkhaliqeena
"Will ye call upon Baal and forsake the Best of Creators,-
English Translation
Allah, your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers?"English Transliteration
Allaha rabbakum warabba abaikumu alawwaleena
"Allah, your Lord and Cherisher and the Lord and Cherisher of your fathers of old?"
